  • Let the games begin!

I am having an issue in my house with the term, “Soccer Mom”, which I am not but use to be and was damned proud of it! So to be called a soccer mom, I would need to blog about sports games, changing diapers, etc etc etc. And as most of you who know me and actually read my blog, I don’t talk about those things because my kids are older and haven’t played a game in years. Buuuutttt…. now that it has been mentioned, let’s take a walk down memory lane shall we? Don’t argue, just get your butt in the van were leaving! :)

    soccer mom

( Inserts MySpace Glittery Pic, can't have a Soccer Mom blog with out this! )

Back in my twenties when the kids were younger I was a stay at home mom. I worked out for a couple hours a day, cooked, cleaned, and took the kids to their games. I had them into all sorts of stuff like soccer, baseball, dance, art classes, you know the works!

I had a mini van with sticky gum under the seats, pop bottles, and candy rappers that would fall out when the kids would open the door. Having 5 kids it got messy, not dirty but messy. One time my daughter Amy who was 7 left her bologna sandwich in the back seat compartment and forgot about it. Two days later we were riding down the road and all of a sudden this swarm of pissed off nats started attacking us! My oldest daughter Ashley started screaming,

“Mom Amy left her sandwich in the car again, Frankie found it and let out nats”!

I am swerving down the road swatting the damn things and hearing nothing but laughter and clapping!

    locusts

“What the hell are you kids doing clapping back there?”

“Where not mom were killing nats”

I can just imagine what people were thinking seeing a swearving van full of clapping kids laughing going down the road with nats flying out the windows! I pulled over at a gas station, got the kids out and made Amy clean up the sandwich mess, then off to the games!

The best part now that I think about it was the van rides heheh. Hell I didn’t have just my kids I had their friends in there too.

I never cared much about what other people thought either I was to busy with my life and what I was doing. Unless it was Mister dick head coach that would ride his daughter’s ass if she didn’t play better then all the others.

(Oops did I say Dick head, I can't say that with a pg rating soccer mom blog, :)

Couple of times the coach was sent home and the assistant coach would take over. This was a typical day in my Soccer Mom life.

Until the next time bye :)

Hey, I think its great that you were a soccer mom. I am actually a soccer mom, but since I have my son on the weekends I don't get the full benefit of feeling it. So when I got to the games, I kinda feel like an outsider, but honestly, I could always just say hello to the other parents. And I try. Thing is though, that makes me feel good, is they all know me as Seth's mom.

Not only is he in soccer but in football as well, and so is my middle son in football and in wrestling.

I like that my sons are interested in sports. It keeps me active on the weekends. :D

Hi LadyTerri--I loved your visit and comments today. It was just wodnerful seeing you again. I see you were a Soccer Mom once. What a cute story about your kids.  5 children. Did I get that right?  Wow, that is a lot and it sounds like you enjoyed them.

I am 75 as you know and still having fun. I could tell you so much about the affects of Viagra--good and bad, but this is not the place. I am just shocked my doctor agreed with me that it was ok for me to use it.

I hope you visit again sometime when you have a chance. I am so busy this week. Pam is coming down for a week. Our 53rd Anniversay is on  Aug 20, and the wife expects a lot from me persoanllly.

    hugs

the picture you painted in my imagination made me giggle! i actually used to call our family vehicle "the pig wagon" since it almost always need a good rooting out & cleaning during those times...
from one former soccer mom to another: i kinda miss it. i am also having band booster parent withdrawal symptoms, too. what's a mom to do until the grandkids come along & get old enough to do all that stuff????

I should think you're okay with the dick head. I mean, you've got Lord Likely's proud salute up and clear. I should say you're golden.

How did I miss this last week?  I am  ROFLMAO about that van and the swarm of gnats!

That coach is unfortunately a pretty common commodity - so many are either like that, or their kid is just awful and daddy acts like the kid is ready to be drafted!  LOL

Hope everything's going well for you and yours!

I am LMAO here! I am sure that you were an amazing "soccer mom!" I myself never had my kids in sports but my minivan was exactly as you described, right down to the gum stuck under the seat. Oh, and mine had cheerios in every single crack & corner, LOL. Good times, those were.
